Projects vs. Spaces: What's the Difference?

Projects appear both inside a Space and in your sidebar — here's what each one actually shows you.

If you've spent time in Northflow, you've probably noticed Projects shows up in two different places, once in the left sidebar under Work, and again inside each Space. Here's the difference.

Projects inside a Space

Every Space holds its own set of projects, the shows, campaigns, or series that belong to that Space. When you're working inside a Space, the projects you see there are specific to that Space only. Once you create a project, you can lay out its entire workflow at once using a template instead of building it stage by stage.

The Projects view in your sidebar

The Projects item under Work in the left sidebar is different: it's a personal, cross-Space view. It shows the projects you're individually part of, pulled from across every Space you have access to, in one list.

Why this matters

This distinction is useful when you're onboarding someone new to your team. Someone new doesn't need to see everything happening across your whole workspace, they mainly need to know what they're personally responsible for. Point them to their Projects view in the sidebar for that focused list, and to a specific Space when they need the fuller picture of everything happening there.
